A new set of awards for Hertfordshire’s SME business community were launched in the county on Thursday (Feb 16).

Joint headline sponsors of the awards, which were launched at Tewin Bury Farm Hotel, in Welwyn, are Clydesdale Bank and the county’s branch of the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB).

FSB Hertfordshire branch chairman, Pam Charman, urged firms and sole traders to shout about their successes.

She said: “Entering awards is a cost-effective way that entrepreneurs can show to the wider community that they are committed to growth.

“Small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) are responsible for contributing a massive amount to their local communities and we believe that is a story worth telling.

“We do great things creating wealth and jobs in Hertfordshire and we should make sure we shout about it.”

Ian Cording, of coffee brand and sponsor Aurile said awards are a central part of his business’s approach to marketing. He said: “Sponsoring awards are a great way for us to get our brand out there and known – and of course as a way of meeting and networking with other successful businesses.”

The SME branded business awards have already seen resounding launches in Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire, Surrey, Cambridgeshire and Buckinghamshire and are open to all businesses with fewer than 250 employees. This includes new businesses and it is free to enter, all online.

Damian Cummins, of SME awards organisers Events and PR said: “Even though the deadline for entries is some way off, people should start the process of registering on the website so they aren’t caught out.”
